Many people wonder how much spending money do you need when you’re coming on a city break to enjoy the Krakow Christmas market or even how would would a city break to Krakow cost in total.
It’s very, very difficult to give accurate estimates to these questions as there are so many other factors that come into play.
Flights to Krakow (from the UK) vary dependant upon your regional airport, the airline, month of the year and how soon (or early) you book your flight before your actual travel date.
Having said that, there are a broad range of prices for flights. If you can get a flight for under £ 150 return including a large suitcase then you’ve done very well. Average prices seem to be around £ 240 for a return flight (with one large suitcase) and of course, if you’re coming for the Christmas market then you won’t have as much flexibility with flight dates as you will need to travel between end of November and end of December.
A number of airlines like Easyjet, Ryanair, Wizzair etc offer promotional discounts throughout the year. There’s no real rhyme or reason as to when they do this or how much discount they offer but it’s always worth keeping an eye out on their websites to see if any promotions are running. It is very possible to shave a considerable amount of money from our suggested flight prices of £ 480 for two people.
You can also save money on your flights by not taking a large suitcase. This can sometimes knock over £ 100 from your flight price!
Once you land in Krakow then you will want to find a way to get from Krakow airport to your accommodation, presumably in the Old Town (Stare Miasto) of Krakow.
Without a shadow of a doubt THE best way to get from Krakow airport to Krakow city centre is by taxi, and by that we mean a taxi you order via an app e.g. Bolt or Uber.

Remember to download your chosen taxi app BEFORE your travel date and ensure it’s fully set up with your preferred payment card so once you land in Krakow then you’re ready to go (do NOT forget to check your mobile phone plan includes EU roaming or ensure you have bought a roaming pass.
The apps are very easy to use so providing you can get a signal at Krakow airport then book your taxi to collect you from there and take you to Krakow’s city centre.
This ride will cost you approximately £ 8 for the journey. It is simply not worth looking at getting a train or a bus just to save £ 3 or £ 4.

Hotels in Krakow are one of the trickiest expenses with which to calculate an average as prices vary drastically.
The two main factors affecting accommodation prices are location and the standard of accommodation (how far in advance you book can also have an impact).
Hotel prices can vary massively with AirBnB tending to be cheaper than hotel prices but again dependant upon the standard of accommodation and location.
It is possible to get a reasonable hotel within walking distance from the Main Square for around £ 450 for four nights.
Eating out in Krakow is one of the highlights of most people’s stay here as there is such a diverse range of restaurants to choose from.
Prices are typically cheaper than back home in the UK but savings are offset by where you decide to dine.
As with most popular tourist places around the world, the centre of the city is the most expensive area from which to dine. The Main Square and streets leading off it are generally the most expensive places to eat.
Krakow does have a good choice of restaurants and a meal for a mid-range restaurant with main meal and dessert could cost you about £ 25 -£ 30 per person (this does not include any drinks).
Lunch options average about £ 18 per person but this is based on a lunch menu at a restaurant. There are many eateries, bars and even street food options which are cheaper.
Breakfasts (based on a full English) cost around £ 8 per person.
